First Cold, First Ear Infection, First Visibly Unhappy Babe!

In the midst of all the crazy field work, our little munchkin came down with her first cold. Runny, watery eyes, stuffy nose, and yucky cough. After a couple days with eye drops, the cold finally subsided, field work went on, visiting family came and left, Thanksgiving thanked and spanked all of us. After watching Gabby carefully yesterday, I noticed that she had been tugging on her ear and shoving her thumb in the left one quite often. Normally, it hasn't been an issue, because since she was born she has pulled on her ear when she drinks her bottle and when she gets really tired. However, yesterday, she was tugging and poking while she was playing. Her cough that appeared with the cold has progressively gotten worse... so I decided yesterday that first thing Friday (today) I was going to call the PAN. What's the worst that could happen, the nurse would hang up on me? Not likely. Anyway, I called and she wanted to have her Dr. see her. Very glad we went in, especially tonight. She has a double ear infection and has been miserable mostly this early evening and now, even though she is tucked away snug as a bug in a rug in her crib, she is coughing miserably. When I was putting her jammies on, her poor eyes were watering like no tomorrow and her nose was running like a broken faucet. Hopefully, that Amoxocillian kicks in soon! :( Since we had to brave the crazy Black Friday Nazis to get her prescription filled, I don't know how you people do it, I was ready to stab someone... and we were only in there for 10 minutes (not for me). I have a feeling, her and I are going to be sharing quite a few snuggles tonight.

On a lighter note, Gabby's aunt and cousin took her shopping over this last weekend so mommy could help Papa finish up in the field. Here's one of the pics that they took to entertain themselves (as well as mommy and daddy). :)

Crazy Grandma

Apparently, this is what Grandma's do to their grandchildren when they baby-sit them. Stuff them in 'green' bags and take multiple pictures of them.

"Okay, seriously Gamma, how many more friggen pictures are you going to take?! I'm sitting in a bag, what's the big deal?"

8 months

Well, our little butter bean is 8 months old already, has 5 1/2 teeth (the 6th is right on the edge), gabs all the time, plays pat-a-cake all by herself and is almost 'officially' crawling. I swear in one day, things change drastically. She still loves her snuggles, being tickled, waking up in the morning just to go play in front of the mirror, cheerios and mum mums. Now, if we could just get these teeth to come through maybe she would be a little more interested in trying new foods. Soon, and then all it will be is mac-n-cheese and hot dogs. Sweet!

Gabby's First Halloween...

I just wanted to post quick some pictures from Gabby's 1st Halloween...

"Please, please, please... bring me lots of candy. I have been a good girl..."

"What do you mean 'wrong holiday'? You mean I have been a good girl for nothin'?"

"Grandpa, do I look better if I wiggle this way, or that way?"

"That's hilarious, oh wait... what's that up there..."

"I just go like, this... and the balls go round and round?"

"oh look at that... what's this stuff? I wonder if I can put it in my mouth?!"

"Grandma, that's so cute when you do it again... do it again! "

"hmmm, I wonder if I can reach that?"

And, one more... post Halloween.

"What? What'cha gonna say? Don't make me take this pacifier outta my mouf!"
